Looking for a flat near a school in Bodrum, what my colleague went through
A colleague of mine teaches physics and last summer he moved to Bodrum from Eskişehir, mostly because of his daughter. She got a place in one of the private schools here and he wanted her to walk to it, not to sit forty minutes in a service bus every morning.
So the search was not about the flat at all, it was about the radius. And this is where it became difficult. Inside two kilometres from the school everything was either summer rental at summer prices or something built in the eighties with no isolation. Owners here think in seasons, not in years, and a teacher salary does not fit into a season logic.
He was angry for about a month. I sent him listings from https://turk.estate/en/ so he could filter by district himself instead of calling agents who kept offering him the same three flats with different photos.
He is in Konacık now, twenty minutes by car, and his daughter still takes the bus. He says he will move again next year, I do not believe him.
