Coming back to Spain after eight years in Germany
After eight years in Mannheim I moved back to Spain last autumn, and I did not expect the return to be the complicated part.
Everything I remembered about prices in Valencia was from before I left. My friends kept saying it is still cheap compared to Germany, which is true and completely useless when you need an actual number. German salaries also make you careless: you look at a price and think it is fine, and then you discover what the community fees and the IBI add up to.
I spent two months just reading listings, mostly on https://spain-real.estate/ and that gave me a feeling for the range per district instead of one opinion per friend.
Bought a small flat in Benimaclet in February. Older building, no lift, but the neighbourhood still has actual neighbours in it.
What I miss from Germany, honestly: things opening when the website says they open.
